The Store

The Grocery store located at 2499 Highway 201; Nyssa Oregon has been around since the mid 1930’s. It was built out of old petrified wood and river stone from the surrounding area. It is often referred to as “The Rock Store.” The store has undergone many changes over the years with the addition of gas pumps, parking lots, & bigger fuel tanks. The store has changed hands several times and was taken over by Don & Julie sweet in the Mid 1980’s after the devastating flood that occurred that year. Don & Julie ran a successful store until 1999 when Jimmy & Janice Simpson purchased the business. Another long and successful career followed until 2022 when their son Tyler Simpson purchased the business. That’s right folks we are a third-generation family business. Owyhee Grocery has been in our family for almost 40 years continuing on the great legacy this store has. Our legacy is “Building A Better Community For Future Generations.” This is our creed and what we strive to do so that our community is thriving 100 years from now. The GrilL

Back in 2017 followed by a dream Tyler Simpson had Rock Store Grill was born. Owyhee Grocery was looking to expand its current offerings and Rock Store Grill fit these needs perfectly. The name was born from what the store is generally referred to as “The Rock Store.” Lunch is the grills main specialty serving hamburgers and other quick American style food items. In 2020 the need to be different spawned what we are now famous for which is the Upside-Down Buns. We flip the traditional hamburger bun on its lid and serve it to you upside down for a unique dining experience. The rich buttery flavor is the first thing you sink your teeth into when you take a bit out of the burger. In 2022 we were able to open up a larger seating area to accommodate the growing needs for the restaurant. Come check us out on your way to the lake!
